The College of Foreign Studies (COFS) of Guilin University of Electronic Technology (GUET) is a community of foreign language professionals that values talents, teaching excellence, research productivity, transformational leadership, and featured programs.
Established in 1993, COFS changed its name several times, from Division of College English to Department of Foreign Languages (DFL), during which time it witnessed rapid growth in both its programs and student population. In 2009, DFL changed its name to College of Foreign Studies (COFS), which signals an update in its vision and an adjustment of its mission, goals, and strategies in obtaining such goals via curriculum renewal.
COFS began to enroll undergraduates leading to BA degree in English in 2000, BA degree in Japanese and BA degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages in 2009, and graduate students of Master of Translation and Interpretation in 2015, and graduate students of English language and literature in 2023.
